Plastics regeneration
In plastics regeneration plants, post-consumer packaging, industrial scraps, waste from separate collection, and processing residues are treated.
Within these seemingly “clean” streams, different types of metals may be present: ferrous and non-ferrous parts such as staples, screws, or caps, as well as copper or light alloy inserts (brass/bronze) from mixed components. Not uncommon are also hazardous contaminants such as metallic fragments from electrical equipment or dispersed batteries.
The presence of metals poses a serious problem for this sector: it can damage grinding mills, extrusion lines, or presses, compromising the quality of the regenerated granulate and/or increasing maintenance costs and plant downtime. For these reasons, metal removal is an indispensable stage of the process.
